ABOUT US

The Triratna Buddhist Community was founded in 1967 by the Englishman Urgyen Sangharakshita. He had previously lived as a Buddhist monk in India for 20 years where he came into contact with various Buddhist schools and teachers. After his return to Europe, he began to translate the principles of Buddhism for people in the West and to teach a system of practice adapted to the needs of a modern Western lifestyle. Since the 1960s, Triratna centres and groups have sprung up around the globe. Today we are an international Buddhist movement with the Triratna Buddhist Order at its heart.

The Buddhist Gate Berlin has been around since the early 90s. Since 2013 we have been teaching in our own rooms on the grounds of the former Urban Hospital in Kreuzberg. www.buddhistisches-tor-berlin.de
